Foundation Scholarships

Nancy Fazio Scholarships

Nancy Fazio Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors from East County high schools and to Boys & Girls Clubs members who have served as mentors and positive role models. Applicants for these college scholarships must have been actively involved in extracurricular activities and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Up to four Nancy Fazio Scholarship recipients are selected in May of each year by the Fazio Family.

Mrs. Fazio was a loving wife, mother and educator who believed that hard working young people deserve access to higher education. She was a special education teacher, leader and mentor in San Diego schools for 30 years who left a legacy of successful students and committed teachers. The wife of former Clubs CEO Jerry Fazio, Nancy was active in Boys & Girls Clubs activities from 1979 until her death in 2008.

Arthur F. Butler Scholarships

Arthur F. Butler Scholarships are awarded annually to graduates from Christian High School or Grossmont High School who are pursuing education in the sciences or finance. Applicants for these college scholarships must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Funds are paid directly to students, and may be used for tuition, books or room and board. Selections are made in May of each year by the Butler Family.

Mr. Butler was a banker and volunteer leader of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County for many years. A member of the Boys Club Board of Directors from the 1960's until his death in 2010 Mr. Butler was instrumental in funding staff training programs to improve the quality of service to our members. Mr. Butler chaired the Big Boys Banquet in 1973. He ran in the 1994 Olympic Torch Run to generate funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs, and he was an active member of the Foundation Board, helping to establish the Endowment to ensure operational funding for the Boys & Girls Clubs into perpetuity.
